at new york state's law, it's a concealed to carry license which means you're not supposed to let anyone know you actually have a gun on your person, and if you do or it's brandishing, unless you absolutely need deadly physical force, you could lose your license through revocation. what the paper just did is do the opposite of what the law tells the pistol licensee to do and now everybody knows where they are and put a lot of families in danger by doing so. >> on the other hand, this is public information. it can be gotten by anyone who goes through the trouble. the paper i guess made it easier. >> they did, made it quite easier. i believe our forefathers when they wrote that in early 1900s here in new york state they weren't counting on google earth to actually come into play with that. the list can be published, but not in such a manner. 40% of that list is retired law enforcement. i actually saw some women who i knew that have order of protections from their spouses and they were really beaten pretty badly and now their lives are in danger because they printed their names. that and la

's for it to be approved and signed into law. today's the 27th. the senate comes back in session today, the house is in pro-forma so it probably will not do any work. you only have a few days left for lawmakers to make a deal -- ink a deal. the president took off last night from hawaii, but there's a five-hour time difference. time is working against these lawmakers. they will have to figure out something if they want to do anything before new year's. it seems quite likely that we are going to go over this cliff and that whatever happens is going to have to be resolved after january 1. it has been looking like that before the holiday, but certainly now, particularly if you remember for congress broke for the christmas break, speaker raynor was not able to get the backup plan through his caucus, so there was no pressure on democrats to try to counter that immediately. senate democrats saying we passed a bill that raises tax rates on incomes over $250,000, we ran on this and this is what we are offering. house republicans were saying, no, we want to negotiate something, figure it out and send it to us. someo

on the health care law and its place in this debate. guest: is not part of the fiscal cliff. there is a tax increase going into effect because of the health reform act. it is not considered part of the fiscal cliff. in terms of immediate damage to the economy, the fiscal cliff has the potential to do more damage more quickly. there are other aspects of obamacare that are positive in terms of continued coverage for children up to 26 and a variety of things. every time i walk into an emergency room, i get angry at the number of people i have to in that -- i have to end up paying for basic health care for. people who walk in to get treated for a cold is something we all end up paying for. to the extent we can get health care for some of these folks in a way that would prevent the expenses from happening is a positive issue to be looking at as well. guest: if you are over 65 and can get medicare, there should not be any reason your health care or what the doctor can do for you will change with the new year. even if you are concerned about the doctor payments, that will be taken care of shortly.

under the health care law. within the next couple glock -- a couple of months, the bush era tax cuts that have been debated over -- the bush-era tax cuts on income expire december 31, workers will not fill the impact until the treasury releases new withholding instructions. alternative minimum tax -- the charred talks about spending cuts, immediate and in the future. and it refers, payments to medicare providers would fall by 27% if there is no action. extended unemployment benefits expire for about 2 million people on january 1. to be the $110 billion in automatic domestic and military spending cuts known as the sequester. in the next couple months, the march 27, a six month extension of the temporary assistance for needy families grant program expires. domestic and military agencies have until the end of the fiscal year to put all of their spending cuts in place. -- ha a few of the changes set to hit. tustin, what is your message to congress amidst this debased? caller: my message is that a bill that have introduced, i hope that they tried to stop trying to fight each other and try

in was a product of training after the columbine incident in colorado. across this country, all law enforcement agencies have been trained not to wait when there is an active shooter, but to go in immediately. and you actually saw that play out on television. and i think that for them doing that coupled with the fact that the teachers did as they were trained, and secured in place versus evacuating those kids into the hallways, had what is a horrific tragedy as far as it went, being far less than it might have been as a result of that training. as the mayor said here in san francisco, we have also trained to that standard. and as we're going through a high right now where we'll pick up a thousand police officers over the next six years, they, too, will be trained to that standard. * hire we've developed a crisis management handbook that's online and the link has been sent to every school in san francisco so that they can refresh their training on secure in place. there is a time to evacuate and then there's a time to stay put, wait as it was said in the media, to wait for the good guys. so, th

they have to be part of this deal? you've got half of those cuts in defense law? >> well, congress agreed they would cut an additional $1.2 trillion in spending. they put a committee together to try to come up with those numbers. they didn't figure out how to do it. so what we now have is a situation where these automatic spending cuts go into place. now, if we have raised some revenue by the wealthy paying a little bit more, that would be sufficient to turn off what is so-called the sequester, these automatic spending cuts, and that also would have a better outcome for our economy long-term. but, you know, so far, at least, congress has not been able to get this stuff done, not because democrats in congress don't want to go ahead and cooperate, but because i think it's been very hard for speaker boehner and republican leader mcconnell to accept the fact that taxes on the wealthiest americans should go up a little bit as part of an overall deficit reduction package. >> you talk about a dysfunction in washington. you sign this legislation setting up a fiscal cliff 17 months ago. how accoun
